La Vallée Des Couleurs Nature Park, Mauritius

I love Mauritius Island and have visited a number of times.  Every year I host group trips to Mauritius via my travel company, Gophari Travel. I am always looking for new and exciting activities to try while in Mauritius. La Vallee Des Couleurs Nature Park has caught my attention so I am writing to share about all they have to offer. What really impressed me about La Vallee Des Couleurs Nature Park is that they have SO MUCH on offer -from waterfalls to hikes and even a museum. I hope you will include at least one of the attractions and activities in your to do list when you travel to Mauritius. All images are from La Vallee Des Couleurs Nature Park’s website.

ATTRACTIONS

Coloured Earth

23 Coloured Earths is the signature feature of La Vallee Des Couleurs Nature Park. It is a unique natural phenomenon of rock and sand that is 23 different colours including red, green, blue and yellow. It looks like someone magically painted the ground. It sounds unreal but this is not man made and can be scientifically explained as a result of oxidized volcanic ashes.

Waterfalls

There is something about waterfalls. I love that every waterfall is unique. I especially love when the water is safe to swim in. You really can go chasing waterfalls as there are 4 unique waterfalls at this location. These are Chamouzee Waterfall, Vacoas Waterfall, Bois de Natte waterfall and Cheveux d’Ange waterfall. Take a look at the pictures below to get a glimpse of what to expect.

Geology Museum

If you would like to learn more about the geological aspects of Mauritius, there is a Geology Museum you can visit. In the museum you can check out Mauritian geological artefacts and an assortment from the 23 Coloured Earths. Visiting the Geology Museum is the chance to learn something new which is one of the best things to gain from travelling to a new place.

Rock and Fern Garden

When I heard that there is a rock and fern garden at La Vallee Des Couleurs Nature Park, what came to mind was that I would finally have the chance to escape into a setting that’s like a childhood fairytale. The range of flowers and plants create a calming environment that sounds perfect for a romantic getaway. There is a pedestrian trail for you to follow as you admire the indigenous plants of Mauritius.

ACTIVITIES

If you are up for outdoor adventure there are number of exciting activities available at La Vallee Des Couleurs Nature Park. You can ride through the nature park by quad bike or zipline across the waterfalls. Or both!

The longest suspension bridge in the Indian Ocean region is at La Vallee Des Couleurs Nature Park. It is 350m long and 80 to 100m high. That’s high! It’s the same height as the bungee jump I recently chickened out of doing. I think I could definitely take on this bridge though.

Visit  La Vallee Des Couleurs Nature Park’s website for more information. I hope you will be paying them a visit during your trip to Mauritius!
