The gophari story

Hey, I’m Fari (Full name Farirai)! I’m the travel content creator behind this website, gophari.com – a travel blog focused on solo travel.

How Gophari began:

I had always been a city girl. I was raised in Durban and Johannesburg and then studied chemical engineering in Cape Town and graduated in 2015.

After completing my studies, I moved to work as a chemical engineer in a small industrial town called Secunda in Mpumalanga province. This was a part of South Africa I had known nothing about.

I didn’t realise how this move would change my life.

Over a long weekend, instead of driving home to Johannesburg, I ventured deeper into Mpumalanga province. Standing before Blyde River Canyon for the first time slapped me inside out.

That was when I realised how much I was missing out on in South Africa and that I needed to encourage everyone else to get out and explore too.

I decided to be blogger, and launched Gophari.com in 2017.

Travelling and equipping others to do the same has since been my joy. I’ve also discovered a passion for the digital world. I  use my engineering background and digital marketing qualification in my full-time role in tech.

Through Gophari, I teach about the destinations I visit and about solo travel through video, image and blog content.

Though I am often on the road or in the air, Johannesburg, South Africa is my home.

Didimalo

"I went to Zanzibar in Oct 2019 and before my trip I reached out to Gophari for some travel tips to Zanzibar as I follow her blog and travel handles. Gophari provided me with all valuable information ahead of the trip. To activities, must-see attractions and how the local transportation works. There’s no question I asked that Gophari didn’t respond too.”
