It’s so dry in Deadvlei that these dead trees don’t decompose . They died several hundred years ago after the surrounding dunes cut off river flow to Deadvlei. . I must say, these trees are all so photogenic! I saw a number of Instagram boyfriends being put to work here 😂 While getting your pics, follow the only rule on the board at the entrance: Don’t climb the trees 🚫 . 📍 Deadvlei, Namibia 🇳🇦

If Namibia is in your plans, remember the following when you’re visiting Namib-Naukluft National Park in Sossusvlei: . 1. Some of the popular spots you will find within Namib-Naukluft National Park are Dune 45 (80m high), Deadvlei (where the 1000 year old, dead trees are), and Big Daddy Dune (325m high 😱) . 2. Take more water than you think you need. A hike up Dune 45 is usually followed by a visit to Deadvlei which is right next to Big Daddy Dune. You need to walk about 1km from the car to get to Deadvlei and you’ve got to keep yourself hydrated through out 💧 . 3. Start your day early while temperatures are cooler. The entrance to Namib-Naukluft National Park opens at sunrise . 4. Wear light clothing, comfortable shoes and a hat. You could do this in a light dress if you wanted to. In this pic I was out of breath but happy after walking up Dune 45 😂 Walking on sand is hard work so you want to make sure you’re dressed comfortably . 5. It’s easier, quicker and more fun to go down Dune 45 by ditching the path and walking on the steep side of the dune instead. Who would you go quad biking through the Namibian dunes with? . I did it with my mother. She really surprised me. She was leading the group! I told her next time we are sand boarding 😜 Have you gone sand boarding before? Is it difficult? 🤔

This is where the desert meets the ocean. The Atlantic Ocean on one side is freezing cold. On the other side, the desert sand burns your feet. It’s comical. . Sandwich Harbour in Namibia is one of the most undisturbed and naturally magnificent places I’ve ever seen. Being there was a dream come true 🌟
