Visa free, Rand friendly beach destinations

If you are looking for beachy getaway ideas, here are some destinations that you should consider. They are all beautiful, Rand friendly and require no VISA for South Africans!

MAURITIUS

Swim with dolphins in their natural habitat. Try out a water sports. Greet all the fish while snorkeling in crystal clear water. Negotiate for great deals at the colourful markets. Enjoy the relaxing time out that you deserve. Take a selfie sipping on a coconut, pretending it tastes good (Ok maybe other people like it). I fell in love with Mauritius. It’s one of my favourite destinations that I can’t help going back to over and over again.

Best time to travel to Mauritius: October to February

I took this photo of Crystal Rock while in a small paddle boat. A natural work of art.

ZANZIBAR

Zanzibar is vibrant, rich in culture, colourful, hot, and abundant in gorgeous doors for photo opportunities. Mango offers good deals on direct flights to Zanzibar from South Africa. I am convinced that Zanzibar is one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Best time to travel to Zanzibar: May to February to avoid the long rainy days in March and April.

THAILANDย

The natural beauty of Thailand is breathtaking. I had an unforgettable holiday in Phuket in December 2015 with my friend. We bought one of those all inclusive travel packages which worked out very smoothly. The highlights for me were definitely island hopping and eating. We also quad biked through a jungle, snorkeled, experienced Thai massages and got our feet nibbled by garra rufa fish. You will bump into a lot of South African’s there. I even met a couple on honey moon from my small town Secunda.

MOZAMBIQUE

Mozambique is perfect for a road trip from South Africa as it is only a 6-7 hour drive from Johannesburg. When in Mozambique, be sure to visit the islands located offshore from the north and south coast of Mozambique. You can expect white sands, clear water and palm trees – how perfect?! I went to Mozambique on a family holiday and we were gifted the biggest prawns I have ever seen from a local family. The locals are friendly and helpful so you will get plenty opportunity to show off your Portuguese by expressing your gratitude and saying, “obrigado!”

Best time to travel to Mozambique: May to November to miss the rainy season.

CAPE TOWN

People travel from around the world to visit Cape Town. It is globally rated among the best holiday destinations. Sip a fancy cocktail at Camps Bay. Take surfing lessons at Muizenberg beach. Kite surf in Blouberg. I’ve been to Cape Town a number of times but I still keep hearing of more spots that I have to check out. Cape Town is like a magical cookie jar that never empties. If you’re not up for the drive, be ready for the flight sales and get a great deal. Just go to Cape Town please!

Best time to travel to Cape Town: Avoid the winter rains from May to August.
